![]() I have learned that if I focus on having the right morning routine or even thought, first thing in the morning, my day starts better and more hopeful. Mental health and wellness should always be essential to our lives. I know most of us struggle or have struggled at some point with maintaining mindful positive thoughts and routines in the morning, especially once we enter a new era of our lives. Such as getting carried away with what we see someone else doing, daily to-do lists, and workplace environments. Mental Health Awareness began in 1949, however, there has always been little to no discussion about just how much negative thoughts affect our mental health and wellbeing. While at least conversations are starting, we often forget to remind ourselves that we determine the mood of our day when we wake up. Thoughts and routines, right or wrong, determine how our body and mind react to the rest of the day. As someone who has struggled in the past with people-pleasing, balancing work and personal life, trying to prioritize health and wellness, and having mindfulness for my mental and health, becoming an author, embracing the bad with the good, and still holding space for more achievements, having a positive out-look comes in handy. Some things that have been recommended to increase or boost moods for the morning are consuming a healthy breakfast, drinking a lot of water, starting your morning with tea instead of coffee, yoga and meditation, etc. It's a goal of mine to focus more on my morning routine this year, even if that means simply incorporating positive thoughts when I wake up. It's not going to happen within 24 hours. Reprogramming how you start your day is a hit and miss, but what do you have to lose by trying? With my schedule, waking up 2 hours earlier would make me miserable, so instead, I can take a few moments to start my day right with short and meaningful morning affirmations. I look for habits that are sustainable long term, that allow me to grow and be better. What Are Morning Affirmations? Morning affirmations can be mantras, quotes, or phrases that are long or short. You can read them and allow yourself, your mind, to be in a better and more positive emotional state. Also, you can write your own if you feel like you would rather do that. Affirmations are a great way to change your perspective, take away stress, and prepare your body and mind to be ready to tackle everything that the day can bring to you emotionally, mentally and physically. I am grateful for today. A new day means a new opportunity. My mind is a place for hope and positivity. I’m graceful, mindful, and brave. I control my mind. I have all the power. I’m thankful for this life, for this heart, for this body, and for this mind. I’ll create a safe space for myself today and every day. I will learn from the past and focus on moving forward. I am deserving of a good day. I will be graceful, let go, and be kind to myself. I’m worthy of achieving my dreams and deserving of great things. With God all things are possible. I will nourish and cherish my mind and body to the best of my ability. Today will be a good day. The universe is my friend and together there is peace. Great things will come to me instead of me having to chase them. Today will be a good day. I am beautiful in every form that God made me. I choose love, kindness, gentleness and positivity over stress, worry and fear. My mindfulness and wellness, God, Family and friends, are my priorities. I will not compare my journey to others. Today, I will be proud of myself.
