As I sat on one of the beach fronts of Jekyll Island last weekend, I realized how important the cycle of the equinoxes was to me. This is a topic and knowledge that I never really entertained before, but I feel it's important to learn about what my mind is directing me towards, even if it's just in that moment.
Maybe you're like me and have limited knowledge about this and that's okay. I have researched a few things that I would like to share with you. Some of this may be new knowledge and if so, I would encourage you to take time to learn more, if that's something you're interested in. The fall equinox occurs around September 22nd or 23rd in the Northern Hemisphere. Carrying a historical meaning, "equinox" originates from the Latin words "aequus," meaning "equal," and "nox,' meaning night. The fall equinox is a sacred day of equal light and dark, facing outward as well as turning inward allowing our past and future to merge in the present. It's no surprise that the autumn equinox would be my favorite. There's a balance between day and night and this season invites reflection and gratitude, and I was reminded of that while sitting with my toes in the sand. This is also a very important time to release what is no longer serving you, which is important for me and my journey currently. It's important to ask yourself (just like I'm doing), what are you taking with you and what will you release with gratitude for lessons learned. Welcome to the autumn equinox, friends. Take a moment and more than that, if needed, to witness everything around you. Spend time outdoors, breathing in and out, slowing down, turning inward and flirting with the dark and the light while appreciating the universe's mirror of death and rebirth.
